Human evolution is a long, trailing procession; and whereas about two generations ago business letters were still adorned with fair flowers of speech, today a stage has been reached when one could express all sorts of relations—from love to pure logic—in the language of supply and demand, of security and discount, at least as well as one can express them in psychological or religious terms.
